Cries tales is a completely unique tale and folding time

Cree Tales is an independent JRPG with Crisbell, a girl who has the ability to manipulate time and see the past, present and future simultaneously. It is a very inspired tour adventure of the classic RPGs of the SNES era such as Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy IV, and although it is supposed to be a tribute to these games, the unique concept and the distinctive style of Cree Tale place this title in a whole other bullet game.

Best Ending in Cris Tales with all side quests completed

Cree Tales takes place in the beautifully vibrant world of Crystallis, a kingdom threatened by the bad Time Empress. Crisbell The Mage of Time and His Faithful Frog Companion Wearing a top hat, Matias, must recruit friends in their group along the way to stop the Time Empress and change the fate of Crystallis. When Crisbell uses his temporal powers, a three-pyramid view is presented to us that allows us to visualize the past, the present and the future of the world around us on different panels. In cities and passive areas without combat, we can see the state of the world around us change over time. On the leftmost panel that shows the past, we can see a world with much less greenery or versions of city dwellers who reveal their younger me. In current or future panels, more plants and flowers can have flowery or buildings can have completely different paint work.

The pyramidal view shows us more than mere cosmetic changes. Simultaneous access to the three stages of time allows us to send Matias at different times to recover objects or listen to past conversations to give us the necessary information to complete certain quests. We can also perform actions such as seed planting in the past that bloom in large vineyards in the present so that we can immediately climb in difficult access places. Manipulate the time in this way is a breathtaking concept that is refreshing in its originality and runs pretty well, but it is not limited to passive exploration. In combat, the use of Crisbell Time Magic also offers us unique benefits. The poisons applied in the present may give instantaneous access to an weakened enemy, or the rust effects of using a skill on the water can be immediately used when maiting on the future panel. In my brief period with the game, I found the regular fight a little boring and slow, but the use of Time Magic definitely adds an unconventional element that wakes up the battles in turn.

The artistic style of Cree Tales is undeniably pretty. The colorful 2D work seems to have been torn directly from the pages of a tales book, and the world has a beautiful fantasy air. Although the characters themselves are not exactly a dead gift, the influence of Crystallis is strongly based on the architecture, colors, fabrics and flora of Columbia, and enter this knowledge opens a new area of appreciation. Important Colombian monuments and characteristics such as the Caño Crystal River or the fortified city of Cartagena make their spiritual appearance in the game, and the world as a whole is one of the most beautiful fantastic universes I saw.

Despite my appreciation for the work of art itself, I worry about the lack of maturity that surrounds what I saw from the game so far. The inspiration from the RPGs of the 90s looks more like a signs that a love letter, and the visual style of the tales book, the game of voice bottle and the slow and simplified fight seems strongly towards a Public child. This looks almost like the type of game that would be played in the browser window of a Disney website, which makes me wonder if the full version will have enough depth to challenge how much the game seems by weightlessness. After playing and attending about two hours of play, it seems that even battles in turn are lacking sophistication and, frankly, the need for skill. A puzzle I saw in a step-by-step procedure with the developers was so basic that he let me ask me if he could even be called an puzzle at all, and until now, the game seems very structured and very linear. I will be curious to see how much freedom and agency the player ends up having, because the important choice is something highly emphasized by the developers.

Cree Tales has a world of potential, but I egoistly hope that the finished product will be adapted to an experienced adult audience. The magic of the passing time is positively unique, and there is a mesmerizing level of charm that would leave anyone who wants more. Only time will tell us if the game will eventually impress or not, but until then, it's really worthwhile.
